Vickie Wilson – Executive Director
After a twenty year career in the financial services industry, Vickie made the shift to the nonprofit sector in 2004, first as Director of Endowment and Planned Gifts for the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, then as Director of Professional Advisor Programs and Senior Philanthropic Officer for The Denver Foundation. She retired in 2017, as Vice President of Development for Community First Foundation.
She soon joined Friends of the Haven, first as a volunteer board member, then as Interim and now as Executive Director. Friends of the Haven supports women, including new and expectant mothers who are coming out of the correctional system, and recovering from severe substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. As a two generational approach, the Haven program addresses the recovery needs of both mothers and their babies in a residential environment.
“As Executive Director of Friends of the Haven,” Vickie says, “my primary efforts are focused on fundraising in support of the Haven programs, including Baby Haven.” With an office next door to the hustle and bustle of infants and small children at the Baby Haven Early Childhood Educational Center, Vickie is constantly reminded of the value of her work.
Vickie holds a Ph.D. in Public Administration from the University of Colorado Denver, an M.S. in Management (Finance) from Purdue University and a B.A. in Economics from Beloit College. She has served on a variety of boards including as president of the Rocky Mountain Estate Planning Council, steering committee member for the Institute for Leaders in Development, and the Colorado Planned Giving Roundtable. In 2017, she received the Roundtable’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
Originally from South Side Chicago, Vickie is a mother of two and grandmother of five-year-old Declan and little Roxanne, born in 2020.
