Haven Programs in Action
The Haven, Road Called STRATE, and Office of Economic Development-Division of Workforce Development (TANF)
Chef Kelly is a graduate of the Haven and the Emily Griffith Opportunity School. She is
now employed by the Road Called STRATE as a full-time instructor for the Haven's
on-site Culinary Arts Certification program. Kelly helps Haven clients obtain
certificates in Culinary Arts while they are in residential treatment and

program was funded through a grant from the Mayor's Office of Economic
Development-Division of Workforce Development and TANF. This unique
collaboration brings a new career opportunity to Haven clients who are
recovering from addictions. The food at the Haven is great, thanks to Kelly and
the Road Called STRATE!

In addition to these services, the Haven programs in collaboration with the HOPE Foundation offers free dental care to all clients who need dental work. Many clients enter the program missing front teeth due to physical abuse or drug addiction and leave with beautiful new teeth.
The Women's Bean Project
The Haven and The Women's Bean project have formed a unique collaboration. Haven clients in the Transitional Phase of treatment can be placed at the Women's Bean Project to learn important job readiness skills. The Women's Bean Project is a social enterprise that offers a transitional job in gourmet food manufacturing designed to provide immediate income, arrange support services to overcome barriers to employment, and teach the job readiness skills, resulting in women being placed in full-time employment upon program completion.
